Movie-holism | Over the Hedge
2006. Bruce Willis and Avril Lavigne
The sexism: The female skunk is made up by the boys to lure the male cat, and then she falls for the male cat - much like fashion is controlled by men for the purpose of looking good for men so that we can be brainwashed into thinking that that is the purpose of our lives ~ to catch men. The female possum wants to be just like her dad. The female hedgehog is portrayed as happy and balanced because her main function is nurturer/mother.
The anti-animals: This is probably just pure thoughtlessness. Picture a young boy coming across a turtoise in the woods. The boy thinks the shell of a turtoise comes off like a jumper. What will the effect be on the turtoise?
The racism: The black character is a skunk that gets dressed and primped by the white characters for prostitution. The suburbs are infested with white women.
Loved: The extended analogy that Badger explains about how humans worship food ~ with the visuals of the two adults and two and a half kids praying at the dinner table, and the gleaming silver rubbish bins we put the leftovers in, etc.
